UCLA Baseball Inks Star Shortstop Jermaine Curtis to National Letter of Intent

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Jermaine Curtis, a senior shortstop at A.B. Miller High School in Fontana, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at UCLA, beginning in Fall 2005. Curtis becomes the thirteenth player to sign an NLI under first-year head coach John Savage.
The right-handed hitting infielder will enter UCLA after a superb high school career which saw him earn Citrus Belt League MVP and San Bernadino County Player of the Year honors in 2004 after hitting .579 with 12 doubles, 2 triples, four home runs and 12 RBI as a junior. This season as a senior, Curtis is currently leading the Rebels in average (.491) and home runs (4) and is third on the squad with 17 RBI after 15 games. He has also stolen six bases.
"Jermaine is a very versatile athlete who will add energy and passion to our program," Savage said. "He's really a student of the game and his upside as a baseball player is tremendous. We are really looking forward to him becoming a big part of our future."
Curtis has also played with the Angels Elite Scout Team in Southern California.
The complete 2005 signing class includes Corey Ashner, Ryan Babineau, Tyson Brummett, Brandon Crawford, Curtis, Robert Dickmann, John Drennen, Blair Dunlap, Brian Kirwan, Tim Murphy, Eddie Murray, Jason Novak and Andy Suiter.
